Former Spring 2022

Former clothing - skateboarding meets surfing with the collective brainchild of unashamedly stylish Habitat Skateboard rider, Austyn Gillette, and influential surfers Craig Anderson and Dane Reynolds. Dylan Rieder was also involved in the company’s inception before his tragic passing, with the group coming together on a Monster Children trip up the east coast of Australia in 2012 - more can be read on that here.

The group stayed in touch following the trip, and shared a vision and common interest to create the brand that they wanted to ride for and the clothes they wanted to wear - free from the shackles of wider corporate influence, and bound by a desire to retain creative autonomy. The resulting product is the knowingly understated ‘Former’.

Former's Spring 2022 collection brings together simple designs in the form of the Legacy hoodies, a Dane Reynolds inspired rugby shirt, a clean Uniform Polo shirt, and premium 200gsm t shirts.

It's been a wee while since we've seen any visual output from Former, however, Austyn Gillette recently released a part for Globe Footwear, for which he now heads up the creative department and is in charge of the company's rebrand, which can be read about in further detail over on Free.
