Introducing Village PM
We're proud to introduce Village PM to the NOTE Shop roster. A shoe company that's got some pretty big ideas and is making maybe the most unique skate shoes we've seen fly through the shop doors.
The brand and their first two skate shoes launch at 00:00am Thursday the 27th of March (AKA Midnight tonight/Wednesday) but before then here's a quick look into the brand, why we're hyped to stock 'em and what they've got to say about themselves.

What is Village PM?
Village PM is the brand from the brilliant minds of Basile Lapray and Bram De Cleen working in partnership with Julien Traverse. For them, Village PM is a “fresh take on what performance skateboarding footwear can feel and look like”.
These guys while focused on designing a shoe that’s fit for the purpose of modern skating, they really were trying to create a (for lack of a better term) vibe with the brand – a perspective we all could relate to.
“A Wednesday afternoon out skateboarding with your friends. In your hometown or the city. That is the first thing we agreed upon when we started this and what we want Village PM to feel like. The type of afternoon you get so caught up in that it takes a while to realise you went somewhere you hadn’t been before.”

Village PM – 1PM and 1.30PM
There first collection consists of two models, the 1PM and 1.30PM both bringing the comfort and contemporary aesthetics usually associated with performance outdoor footwear to skateboarding. To put in simpler terms: Melding cues from climbing shoes, skate shoes and other outdoorsy footwear, they've created the 1PM and 1.30PM – they’re performance-driven and dead comfy.
“A lot of our friends wear skate shoes like sports equipment nowadays. Something you put on before skating and take off as soon as you’re going to do something else. We want to make shoes that are great for skating and that you still feel good in afterwards.”

Making Skate Shoes
As we’ve seen over the years, skate shoes have constantly evolved and skateboarding is always re-inventing itself. Village PM aims to bring that nature of continuous progression back to skateboarding footwear.

After years working on high-performance footwear for elite outdoor brands at All Triangles, Lapray saw the potential for something new. Partnering with ex-employer Julien Traverse and leveraging their joint expertise, the whole team set out to create progressive skateboarding footwear. For the trio, the ethos behind making the shoes has always been “Form follows function.” And the result has got everyone at NOTE HQ talking.

1PM and 1.30PM Construction
Taking cues from the high standards set in outdoor footwear, Village PM injects that same attention to detail and comfort into skate shoes. The asymmetric precision fit. The grippy and long-lasting toe cap. The signature wrap-around rubber construction (known as rands). All elements often found in climbing shoes and directly influencing their first silhouettes.
“There’s elements in climbing shoes – durability and a balance between protection and precision, basically - that make perfect sense for skateboarding. We took those functions as a starting point and transferred them to skateboarding. And then we kept testing and tweaking the shapes and formulas until we were happy with how fast they break in, how long they last and how they feel on a board.”
Village PM at NOTE
Village PM is unlike anything we’ve seen at NOTE. They’re chock full of outdoor footwear know-how, they’re built to handle everything you can throw at ‘em and they look dope. We’re stoked to have them in the stockade.
Like with any new brand, shoot us a DM, email or phone call if you want to find out more or better yet pop into the shop on Thomas Street – try on a pair and get to know Village PM.
