The Nike SB x Born x Raised Dunk Low

Praise be to the Nike SB Gods, we’ve got a dunk launching at NOTE this week, and it’s a doozy. This time round, Nike SB have partnered with LA streetwear brand Born X Raised to create a banging dunk low celebrating the brand and what it stands for. From what we know about BxR and just looking at the shoe - we can tell this is going to be a Nike SB shoe for the proverbial history books. So, grab a brew, take a seat and find out more about the Nike SB x Born x Raised Dunk release below.

The Birth and rise of Born X Raised

Born X Raised was launched in 2013 by Chris "Spanto" Printup, a Venice local with a deep connection to his community, and has made a name for itself by celebrating said community’s culture and vitality through its clothing, films, and events. Spanto approached 2Tone, a Venice video producer who also had a background in graff, with the idea that they work on the brand together. They did and together they missioned to create a brand that would pay homage to their Venice roots and shed light on important social issues - including gentrification. With these social issues gripping many cities across the US but also the world, the brand quickly gained attention from a wide-ranging audience. They now have become synonymous with LA culture and have done highly sought-after collabs with the likes of the Lakers, LA dodgers, Levis, the NFL just to name a few.

BxR have definitely faced a lot of adversity over the years which we won’t go into here (or we’d be writing for hours) but these guys are true Los Angeles legends.

These shoes are chocked full of details and references to LA so let’s dive into what we’re all here for…

A detailed look at the Nike SB x Born x Raised Dunk Low

Born X Raised is known for incorporating cultural references into its designs, giving a voice to the community it represents. The Nike SB x Born x Raised Dunk Low Pro Shoes Deep Royal/White-Black is no exception. The design draws inspiration from the typography, colors, and personality of LA street culture. The city's colors are reflected in the shoe, with pops of pink and custom artwork inspired by bandana patterns. The design also features the brand's signature typography, reminiscent of the '80s and '90s. These shoes are crispy to say the least.

The upper is constructed with full-grain leather, providing a mix of contrasting details. From the lenticular Swoosh and heel tabs to the perforated toe and upper eyelets, each element adds to the significance and dopeness of the shoe. The embroidered artwork and sock liner graphic pay homage to the iconic Venice pavilion, a symbol of the community's resilience and creativity.

Every detail on the shoe, from the bold brand messaging to the subtle "In Loving Memory" dedication on the laces, speaks to the brand's mission. These are truly a sight to behold.
