The new Olympics kits from Nike SB and Alexis Sablone

Love or hate it, Skateboarding is in the Olympics and the big event is set to kick off at the end of the month. To mark the beginning of the historic games and skating's second olympics, Nike SB are launching their new kits. This time round, Nike SB is bringing a fresh spin to the Olympics with kits designed by the one and only Alexis Sablone.

Tokyo 2020 x Parra and Sablone

Last time, Nike SB teamed up with the legendary Piet Parra to create the vibrant and unforgettable Tokyo 2020 kits. This year, the torch has been passed to Alexis Sablone, architect, artist and pro for Converse Cons, Alltimers and Thunder whose innovative design work is turning heads to say the least.

The Olympics kits and crests

Alexis Sablone’s design for the 2024 kits captures the essence of skateboarding’s diverse and inclusive culture - but more importantly they look pretty darn decent.

  1. USA Kit: This collection is a nod to skateboarding’s roots in California’s sun-soaked streets. The USA crest is a fusion of timeless American symbols—a rose, an eagle, and red and white stripes—with playful elements like saxophone-playing eagles. We're no designers but this crest is certainly something we've never seen represent the red white and blue country.
  2. Agnostic Kit: Designed for skaters worldwide, this kit features a crest with four unique orchid species and a pair of chameleons. The orchids symbolise the diversity within the skateboarding community, while the chameleons represent the ever-changing, adaptable nature of skaters. Like much of what Sablone does this is very much on point.

The apparel is not just about aesthetics; it’s crafted with high-performance fabrics to ensure skaters can perform their best while looking effortlessly stylish. Here’s a closer look at some of the standout pieces:

  • Bowler Shirt: A classic open collar shirt featuring Nike Dri-FIT technology for sweat-wicking comfort, and a spandex-infused roomy fit for easy movement.
  • Parisian-Inspired Chore Coat: The classic chore jacket, made from durable ripstop cotton with a touch of spandex for stretch, is built to handle your toughest skate sessions,
  • El Jeano skate Pants: Crafted from lightweight yet durable CORDURA® denim, these El Jeano skate pants can take a pounding on the pavement.
  • Dri-FIT ADV jerseysNike SB Dri-FIT ADV kicks it up a notch with top-tier sweat-wicking tech, advanced cooling, and breathable zones to keep you dry and comfy.

Alexis has ensured that every piece not only meets the technical demands of skateboarding and look dope at the same time but also reflects a rich narrative.

In addition to the apparel, keep an eye out for two limited-edition skateboarding shoes launching in August (fingers crossed): a new take on Alexis’ signature Converse CONS AS-1 Pro and the complementary Nike SB Dunk Low.
