Lakai Spring 2022
Lakai Spring '22
Lakai footwear’s Spring 2022 collection sees the Los Angeles based footwear brand bring together a selection of heritage skate shoe styles in the form of the Telford Low and the Fade, featuring some vivid colourways.
Standing alongside these are staples of Lakai’s arsenal, the Manchester and Cambridge, ensuring a selection of vulcanised or cupsole skate shoes are on offer to cater to your individual taste. Whether you want a sturdier sole in the form of a cupsole, or a more flexible vulcanised sole for maximum board-feel, Lakai have got you covered. We take a closer look at these shoe styles below.
Lakai Fade:
The Lakai Fade was first introduced in 2000, and was reintroduced in 2021, with the modern reiteration comprising durable suede and a mesh upper to ensure optimum breathability. Featuring a hidden lacing system and slight branding details, the shoe combines skateboard functionality with a visually appealing silhouette, with the Spring 2022 colourway appealing to the more exuberant amongst us. Rounded off with Lakai’s flexible XLK cupsole, the shoe encompasses the durability you’d expect, with added comfort and boardfeel.
Lakai Telford Low:
Stripping down the Telford High, Lakai bring you their team heritage model the Lakai Telford Low. Featuring their durable XLK cupsole with “pod” tread to provide maximum grip, comfort and feel.
Lakai Manchester:
The Lakai Manchester was launched in 2007 and has proven to be one of the most iconic skate shoes since then, featuring heavily in Lakai’s seminal visual offering Fully Flared. 15 years later and the Manchester has really shown to stand the test of time, due in no small part to its clean and simple design, featuring vulcanised construction and classic Lakai ‘Flare’ branding.
Lakai Cambridge:
The Lakai Cambridge utilises a variety of materials including suede, mesh, and perforated synthetic leather to ensure maximum functionality whilst maintaining a contemporary aesthetic, making references to Lakai’s deep-rooted heritage in the skateboard industry. The combination of both contemporary and classic ensures the shoe’s popularity with a broad audience. The Spring 2022 offering keeps the colourways classy with a black to the floor iteration, a classic white/gum option, and a simple Black/White Mid. The Cambridge features Lakai’s PARA-MOUNT™ outsole, providing Lakai’s most technologically advanced vulcanised outsole to date, and is finished with a DELUX-LITE™ footbed for added comfort.
Lakai Trudger:
Lakai’s Spring '22 offering also brings with it the introduction of a new silhouette, the Lakai Trudger, designed by team rider Simon Bannerot. The Trudger takes clear inspiration from Simon’s Pacific Northwest heritage, including hints of outerwear, reminiscent of a hiking boot. The Trudger features a suede and cordura upper, sitting on Lakai’s XLK cupsole for flexibility and board-feel. The tongue and insole features custom artwork by Simon himself, and is finished with Lakai’s signature flare branding.
Check the edit out below to watch Simon applying his loose style to a variety of gnarly terrain, culminating in a perilous backside 50-50 well worthy of the three angles it's afforded, including one on a VX1000, filmed by none other than Tyler 'Manchild' Pacheco. Also keep those eyes peeled for a wild Vincent Alvarez hip cameo.
