Elissa Steamer Appreciation
Not many people would disagree that Elissa Steamer paved the way for female street skateboarding. After a brief stint on Lance Mountain's amazing The Firm she found a home with Jamie Thomas and Ed Templeton on Toy Machine, part of the classic team filming for "Welcome to Hell" in 1996. With "The Chief" as a driving force behind her filming process she was put in the spot light as one of the most visable female skaters in the world.
After "Welcome to hell" dropped so did Jamie Thomas and Chad Muska leaving Elisser with a team consisting of Brian Anderson, Kerry Getz, Mike Maldonado, Chris Senn and a young up and coming maniac called Bam Margera.
Together along with Ed T they produced the cult classic "Jump off a building"
Following this the team basically split up with Kerry going to Habitat Skateboards and Bam moving on to Element Skateboards leaving Elissa and Mike finding a home on Bootleg, which was the sister company of Baker.
Bootleg was short lived only lasting a few months but established a strong connection with Baker and Andrew Reynolds. After nearly getting on Anti Hero Elissa found herself back with Jamie Thomas riding for Zero and subsequently sharing a part with the "Chief"
The Chief and Elissa parted ways again as she became more focussed on creative projects her skating took a back seat for a few years. Re-emerging with Gnarhunters in 2013 along with the help of her buddy's Frank Gerwer and Brian Anderson she seemed to find her love of Skateboarding again.
Continuing her relationship with Andrew Reynolds and the infamous "Warner Ave" crew she found a home on Baker Skateboards and with support from Nike Sb continues to shred and inspire the world over. Elissa truly is a legend with one of the raddest style's ever. Check out more of her story and how she overcame a massivley male dominated road to success in her Epicly Later'd
